Here's the basic idea with the dream herb (Calea zacatechichi) and your Lyumjev. This is a fast-acting mealtime insulin, so its whole job is to bring your blood sugar down after you eat. In animal studies, Calea zacatechichi also seemed to nudge blood sugar a little lower on its own. Put the two together and, in theory, those effects could stack up, leaving you more likely to dip into a low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It's theoretical, based on lab and animal work, not solid human studies, and the concern is rated minor. Still, since insulin is powerful, it's worth knowing the warning signs of a low: shakiness, sweating, fast heartbeat, confusion, or sudden hunger. If you'd like to try this herb, check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your readings.
