Cabotegravir, Rilpivirine falls under QT INTERVAL-PROLONGING DRUGS — the group Cesium interacts with.

Theoretically, taking cesium concomitantly with other drugs that prolong the QT interval may increase the risk of ventricular arrhythmias and death.
Taking cesium can prolong the QT interval on electrocardiogram (ECG). In many cases, cesium-induced QT prolongation has led to serious adverse effects, including torsades de pointes, cardiac arrest, and death.

Here's the heart of it: cesium chloride can stretch out a part of your heartbeat called the QT interval, and that change can trigger dangerous rhythm problems like torsades de pointes, even cardiac arrest. The rilpivirine portion of Cabenuva can also nudge the QT interval, especially at higher exposures. Stack the two together and you may add up that risk.

I'll be honest, this is rated as theoretical and rests on weak, anecdotal reports, so the exact danger isn't pinned down. But cesium itself is genuinely unsafe and has caused deaths, with no proven benefit. I would steer clear of it entirely. Please don't change your HIV injections, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking anything new.

What Is Cabotegravir and Rilpivirine Injections Used For?

Brand name: Cabenuva

CABENUVA (cabotegravir + rilpivirine) is used to treat HIV-1 infection in adults and adolescents 12 years and older who weigh at least 35 kg (about 77 lbs). It is not a starter treatment — it's designed for people who are already virologically suppressed, meaning their HIV is currently undetectable on a stable daily pill regimen and who have no history of treatment failure.

The goal is to keep the virus fully suppressed while freeing the person from taking a pill every day. Because it stays active in the body for weeks after each injection, strict adherence to the injection schedule is essential.
