PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS
Why this applies to Bendroflumethiazide, Rauwolfia Serpentina
Bendroflumethiazide, Rauwolfia Serpentina falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Chlorophyllin interacts with.
Chlorophyllin is a semi-synthetic derivative of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll has been reported to cause photosensitization. Orally, chlorophyll has also been associated with the development of pseudoporphyria in multiple case reports.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the practical takeaway: Rauzide contains bendroflumethiazide, a thiazide-type water pill, and thiazides are well known to make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Chlorophyllin may do something similar on its own. So the concern isn't about how either one is broken down in your body. It's simply that both can leave your skin more prone to sunburn, and using them together could add up.
In real life, that might mean you burn faster than expected, get a rash, or notice redness on sun-exposed skin even after modest time outdoors. This is a theoretical, additive concern rather than a proven danger, so don't panic. Just be smart with sunscreen, hats, and shade, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting chlorophyllin.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Bendroflumethiazide, Rauwolfia Serpentina page
“Rauzide combines two blood-pressure medicines, the thiazide diuretic bendroflumethiazide and rauwolfia serpentina, so anything that also lowers pressure, pulls off fluid, or shifts electrolytes lands on already sensitive ground. This page warrants real caution.”
