ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Insulin Aspart, Insulin Degludec
Insulin Aspart, Insulin Degludec falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Corydalis Yanhusuo interacts with.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. Clinical research shows that berberine may lower blood glucose levels. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also lower blood glucose levels.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Ryzodeg combines two insulins (aspart for fast coverage and degludec for steady all-day control), and both work by lowering your blood sugar. Here's the thing to watch for: Corydalis yanhusuo may contain berberine, which has its own modest blood-sugar-lowering effect. Stack that on top of your insulin and, in theory, your glucose could dip lower than expected.
This is a theoretical concern based on how the herb behaves, not on solid human studies, so I don't want you to panic. But if you do try Corydalis, just be alert for signs of low blood sugar: shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, or a racing heart. Check your readings more often at first, and chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them so any insulin adjustment is done safely.
