Here's the gist with Janumet (that's metformin plus sitagliptin). This combo already works to bring your blood sugar down. Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine, which on its own may also nudge blood sugar lower. So stacking the two together could push your numbers down a little too far, raising the odds of a low (hypoglycemia).

I'll be honest though: this is mostly a theoretical concern based on how the ingredients behave, not strong human studies, so I don't want you to panic. Still, if you do try the herb, keep an eye out for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling unusually hungry or confused, and check your sugar more often at first. Please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might increase the therapeutic and adverse effects of metformin.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. In vitro and animal studies show that berberine can increase the systemic exposure and half-life of metformin, potentially increasing metformin's effects and side effects. This interaction seems to be most apparent when berberine is administered 2 hours prior to metformin. Taking berberine and metformin at the same time does not appear to increase systemic exposure to metformin. It is unclear if Corydalis yanhusuo might have this same effect.

Your medicine Janumet pairs two diabetes drugs, metformin and sitagliptin. The concern here is with the metformin half. Corydalis yanhusuo can contain berberine, and lab and animal studies hint that berberine may slow how fast your body clears metformin, letting a bit more of it linger. In theory, that could nudge metformin's blood-sugar lowering and its side effects upward, think stomach upset, nausea, diarrhea, or low blood sugar (shaky, sweaty, lightheaded feelings).

I want to be honest: this is theoretical, based on pharmacology and animal data, not solid human studies, and we don't even know if corydalis carries enough berberine to matter. Still, since you're managing diabetes, please run this by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
