Methyldopa falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Corydalis Yanhusuo interacts with.

Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. Animal research suggests that berberine can have hypotensive effects. Also, a clinical study suggests that taking berberine in combination with amlodipine can lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure when compared with amlodipine alone. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also reduce blood pressure.

Here's the thing to know if you take methyldopa for blood pressure and are curious about Corydalis yanhusuo. This herb contains compounds (including berberine) that may lower blood pressure on their own. Since methyldopa already relaxes your blood vessels to bring pressure down, stacking the two could push your numbers too low.

If that happens, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, drowsy, or faint, especially when standing up quickly. Methyldopa already tends to cause drowsiness, so adding the herb could make that worse. I'll be honest with you: this concern is theoretical, based on how these ingredients work, not strong human studies. Still, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and don't change your methyldopa on your own.
