Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might increase serum levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. In vitro research and preliminary clinical evidence show that berberine can inhibit CYP2D6. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also inhibit CYP2D6.

Here's the gist with paroxetine (Paxil). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear this medicine. Corydalis is thought to contain berberine, which may slow that same enzyme down. If it does, paroxetine could clear a little more slowly and build up in your system, nudging up the chance of side effects like nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, or sexual side effects.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's theoretical, based mostly on lab work, not solid human studies. So this isn't a reason to panic. Still, since both can affect mood and the nervous system, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them rather than changing anything on your own.

What Is Paroxetine Used For?

Brand names: Paxil CR, Paxil, Brisdelle

Paroxetine tablets, film-coated tablets, and oral suspensions are approved in adults for major depressive disorder (MDD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The extended-release tablet forms (Paxil CR, paroxetine HCL CR, and paroxetine extended-release tablets) are approved in adults for MDD, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

Brisdelle (paroxetine 7.5 mg capsule) and generic paroxetine capsules are approved specifically for moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes) associated with menopause — not for any psychiatric condition. Paroxetine tablets are not approved for use in children.
