ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Insulin Lispro
Insulin Lispro falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Cowhage interacts with.
Animal research shows that cowhage might have hypoglycemic effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: cowhage seeds may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of their own. Since insulin lispro (Admelog) is a fast-acting insulin that already brings your sugar down at mealtimes, stacking cowhage on top could push your glucose lower than you intend. That raises the odds of a low blood sugar episode, with the usual warning signs like shakiness, sweating, a racing heart, confusion, or dizziness.
I want to keep this in perspective, though. This concern comes only from animal studies, so it's theoretical and not proven in people. If you do choose to use cowhage, check your sugars more closely at first and loop in your doctor or pharmacist before changing anything, since your insulin dose may need a closer look.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Insulin Lispro page
“Blood sugar is the entire subject of this list. Insulin lispro (Admelog) is a rapid mealtime insulin dosed to bring glucose down after eating, and the supplements below can shove that same number around, most of them downward, which risks a genuine low.”

About Cowhage
What is Cowhage?
- Parkinson's disease symptoms
- Male fertility and libido
- Mood and stress support
- Traditional aphrodisiac
- General energy and vitality
Cowhage (Mucuna pruriens) is a tropical legume best known as a natural source of L-dopa, the compound the body turns into dopamine. It is most studied for Parkinson's disease symptoms and male fertility, but evidence is still limited and the L-dopa content makes it potentially powerful and risky—talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using it.
About Insulin Lispro Injection
What Is Insulin Lispro Injection Used For?
Brand names: Admelog, Admelog Solostar
Insulin lispro injection is used to improve glycemic control (blood sugar management) in people with diabetes mellitus. It is a rapid-acting insulin analog approved for use in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Admelog is specifically indicated to improve glycemic control in patients with diabetes mellitus. Insulin Lispro Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Insulin Lispro as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Cowhage — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
