Here's the basic idea with these two together. Donepezil works by slowing the breakdown of acetylcholine, a brain chemical tied to memory. Deanol (DMAE) is marketed as something that might nudge acetylcholine levels up. So on paper, both are pushing in the same direction, and stacking them could in theory add up to a little too much cholinergic activity.

If that happened, you might notice more of donepezil's usual side effects, things like nausea, diarrhea, stomach cramps, a slower heartbeat, dizziness, or muscle issues. I'll be honest though, this is a theoretical concern based on how the two work, not something proven in studies, and it's rated minor and unlikely. Still, before adding deanol, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
