Voclosporin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Devil's Claw interacts with.

Theoretically, devil's claw might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that devil's claw might inhibit CYP3A4, although this has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for your situation: your body clears voclosporin (Lupkynis) mainly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies hint that devil's claw might slow that enzyme down. If that happened in real life, voclosporin could build up in your blood and hit harder than intended. With this medication, that can mean higher blood pressure, kidney strain, headaches, or low magnesium, so it isn't something to take lightly.

That said, this concern comes from test-tube research only and hasn't actually been seen in people, so I don't want to alarm you. Voclosporin is a sensitive drug where even small shifts matter, though. Please don't start or stop anything on your own. Just loop in your pharmacist or doctor before adding devil's claw.

What Is Voclosporin Used For?

Brand name: Lupkynis

Lupkynis (voclosporin) is approved for adults with active lupus nephritis (LN) — a serious kidney complication of lupus. It is always used alongside a background immunosuppressive regimen, specifically mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) and corticosteroids.

Lupkynis is not recommended in combination with cyclophosphamide, as safety and efficacy in that combination have not been established.
