Goji + Bisoprolol
Bisoprolol brand name: Zebeta.
Bisoprolol falls into 2 drug categories that Goji can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, concomitant use of goji root bark, but not goji fruit, with antihypertensive drugs might have additive effects.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Goji interacts with whole categories of medication. Bisoprolol falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Goji in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Bisoprolol
Bisoprolol falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Goji interacts with.
Animal and in vitro research suggest that goji root bark has hypotensive effects. However, goji fruit juice does not appear to reduce systolic or diastolic blood pressure in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the key thing about this one: it really comes down to which part of the goji plant we're talking about. Goji root bark (a less common preparation) has shown blood-pressure-lowering effects in lab and animal studies, so in theory it could add to what your bisoprolol is already doing. Stacked together, that could mean your numbers drop lower than intended, with possible dizziness, lightheadedness, unusual tiredness, or a slower heartbeat.
The good news is that ordinary goji berries and goji juice have not been shown to lower blood pressure in people, so eating them as a snack is unlikely to cause trouble. This concern is theoretical and based on weak evidence. Still, if you're using a concentrated goji root supplement, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.

CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Bisoprolol also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that goji berry juice inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP2D6 substrates. However, this has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with goji and your bisoprolol. Your body partly relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to clear bisoprolol out. In lab (test tube) studies, goji berry juice slowed that enzyme down. In theory, that could let a bit more bisoprolol build up in your system, which might lead to a slower heart rate, lower blood pressure, dizziness, or feeling unusually tired.
The important part: this has only been seen in lab dishes, not in real people, so it's more of a theoretical concern than a proven problem. Eating goji berries as food is unlikely to cause trouble for most folks. Concentrated goji extracts or large amounts of juice are more of a question mark. If you want to use them regularly, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first so they can keep an eye on your pulse and blood pressure.

About Goji
What is Goji?
- General antioxidant support
- Eye health
- Immune support
- Anti-aging and well-being
- Blood sugar support
Goji berries are a nutritious fruit rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and plant polysaccharides, and they are safe for most people as a food. While they are popular for eye health, immune support, and general wellness, strong human evidence for most health claims is limited. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated goji supplements, especially if you take medications or are pregnant.
About Bisoprolol
What Is Bisoprolol Used For?
Brand name: Zebeta
Bisoprolol fumarate tablets are used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the strain on the heart and blood vessels, helping prevent serious complications over time.
It can be used on its own or combined with other blood pressure-lowering medicines, such as thiazide diuretics. All supported products — including those labeled as Bisoprolol and Bisoprolol Fumarate — share this indication.

Bisoprolol Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Bisoprolol as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Goji — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
