Why this applies to Duvelisib

Duvelisib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Goji interacts with.

Theoretically, goji berry might inhibit CYP3A4 and reduce metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that goji berry juice inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP3A4 substrates. However, this has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for Duvelisib (Copiktra): your body clears it mainly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies suggest goji berry can slow that same enzyme down. If goji blocks CYP3A4, less of your Duvelisib gets broken down, so more could build up in your blood. Since Duvelisib already carries serious risks like infections, diarrhea or colitis, liver enzyme changes, lung inflammation, and skin reactions, higher levels could make those side effects more likely.

I want to be honest though, this is only theoretical and based on test-tube work, not real people. A bowl of goji berries as food is unlikely to matter much, but concentrated goji supplements or juice are worth running past your oncology team or pharmacist first.

About Duvelisib

What Is Duvelisib Used For?

Brand name: Copiktra

Copiktra (duvelisib) is used in adults with relapsed or refractory chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) — meaning the cancer has returned or stopped responding to treatment — after at least two prior therapies.

Copiktra is also used for relapsed or refractory follicular lymphoma (FL) after at least two prior systemic therapies. The follicular lymphoma approval is based on overall response rate and is considered an accelerated approval; continued approval may depend on results from confirmatory trials. Copiktra is not intended for use as a first- or second-line treatment for any of these cancers.
