Goji + Mometasone, formoterol
Mometasone, formoterol brand name: Zenhale.
Mometasone, formoterol falls into 4 drug categories that Goji can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, goji berry might inhibit CYP2D6 and reduce metabolism of CYP2D6 substrates.

These two interact in 4 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 4 Interactions?
Goji interacts with whole categories of medication. Mometasone, formoterol falls into 4 of those categories, so it can interact with Goji in 4 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
1 of 4Why this applies to Mometasone, formoterol
Mometasone, formoterol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Goji interacts with.
In vitro research shows that goji berry juice inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP2D6 substrates. However, this has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Let me ease your mind on this one. Zenhale combines mometasone (an inhaled steroid) with formoterol (a long-acting reliever). The concern on file is that goji berry, in test-tube studies only, slowed down a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. If that happened in real life, a CYP2D6 drug could build up and cause stronger effects. With formoterol, that might look like a faster heartbeat, jitteriness, shakiness, or a feeling of restlessness.
Here's the key part: this has never been reported in actual people, and most formoterol is cleared by other pathways anyway. Eating goji berries as food is very unlikely to matter. If you're thinking about concentrated goji supplements, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES
2 of 4Mometasone, formoterol also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that goji berry tincture and juice inhibit CYP2C19 enzymes. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP2C19 substrates. However, this has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the good news on this one. The concern with goji is that, in lab tests, it slowed down a liver enzyme called CYP2C19. In theory, blocking that enzyme could let certain medications build up to higher levels. But your Zenhale inhaler (mometasone plus formoterol) is breathed straight into your lungs, and these two drugs aren't mainly cleared by CYP2C19, so this pathway really doesn't apply much here.
On top of that, this is only test-tube data, never seen in real people. So I wouldn't lose sleep over enjoying goji berries. If you ever use concentrated goji supplements, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can give it a quick look.

CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
3 of 4Mometasone, formoterol also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that goji berry tincture and juice inhibit CYP2C9 enzymes. Additionally, multiple case reports suggest that goji berry concentrated tea and juice inhibit the metabolism of warfarin, a CYP2C9 substrate. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP2C9 substrates.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the honest picture with Zenhale (mometasone and formoterol). The concern on file is that goji might block a liver enzyme called CYP2C9, which could slow how your body clears certain drugs and let levels creep up. But this matters most for pills that go through your whole system. Your Zenhale inhaler delivers tiny doses straight to your lungs, so very little reaches the bloodstream to be processed this way.
On top of that, this interaction is theoretical, based mostly on lab studies and warfarin case reports, not on inhalers. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Eating goji berries as food is very unlikely to cause trouble. If you're using strong goji tea or concentrated supplements, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor to be safe.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
4 of 4Mometasone, formoterol also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that goji berry juice inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP3A4 substrates. However, this has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with Zenhale (which combines mometasone, an inhaled steroid, and formoterol, a long-acting bronchodilator). Lab studies hint that goji berry might slow down a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, which helps your body clear the mometasone part. If that clearance slows, a bit more steroid could linger in your system. With high or long-term exposure, that might nudge up steroid-related effects like a sore or white-coated mouth (thrush), a hoarse voice, or, rarely, broader steroid effects.
The important part: this is only seen in test tubes, not in real people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over a few goji berries in food. Concentrated goji supplements are the bigger question mark. Before adding one, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Mometasone, formoterol page
“Mometasone and formoterol (Zenhale) is an inhaled asthma controller, a steroid paired with a long-acting airway opener, and its supplement list calls for real vigilance rather than a shrug. Nearly everything on it acts on the liver enzymes that break these medicines down, chiefly one called CYP3A4.”
