Here's the honest scoop on pairing green tea with your Onglyza (saxagliptin): the evidence is pretty thin and the research actually points in both directions. Some reports suggest green tea or its caffeine might nudge blood sugar up a bit, while others suggest it could lower it. Because the findings conflict, nobody can say with confidence which way it goes for any one person.

The good news is this is rated a minor and unlikely concern, and saxagliptin works gently by helping your body release insulin after meals when sugar is high, so it doesn't typically cause dangerous lows on its own. Enjoying a cup or two of green tea normally is very unlikely to throw off your numbers. If you take concentrated green tea extracts or notice unusual changes in your readings, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.

Saxagliptin tablets are used to help adults with type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar levels. It is meant to be used together with diet and exercise, either alone or alongside other diabetes medicines.

Saxagliptin tablets are not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous complication where the blood becomes too acidic).
