ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Diclofenac Sodium, Misoprostol
Diclofenac Sodium, Misoprostol falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Indole-3-carbinol interacts with.
In vitro research shows that indole-3-carbinol inhibits platelet aggregation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version for Arthrotec, which pairs the anti-inflammatory diclofenac with misoprostol (added to protect your stomach). Diclofenac is an NSAID, and on its own it can already make you bleed or bruise more easily because it affects how your platelets stick together. Indole-3-carbinol may do something similar, since lab studies suggest it can also slow platelets down.
Put them together and, in theory, the bleeding-related effects could add up. This is a very weak, theoretical concern based only on test-tube research, not real people, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, watch for easy bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach upset. Please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially at concentrated supplement doses.
