Estrone (Ortho-Est) is a form of estrogen you take to replace what your body is making less of, often to ease menopause symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness. The concern here is that indole-3-carbinol may push back against estrogen's effects. It seems to nudge how your liver processes estrogen and may have its own anti-estrogen activity, so in theory it could make your estrone work a little less well.

If that happened, you might notice your usual symptoms creeping back. I want to be honest, though: this is based mostly on lab and animal work, not solid human studies, so it's a possible concern rather than a proven one. The small amounts in broccoli or cabbage are very unlikely to matter; concentrated supplements are the question. Before adding I3C, please check with your pharmacist or doctor.
