Here's the gist for mirtazapine (Remeron): one of the liver pathways that helps clear it is an enzyme called CYP1A2. Indole-3-carbinol may rev up (induce) that enzyme, which could speed up how fast your body breaks mirtazapine down. In plain terms, that might leave a little less of the drug in your system, and in theory could make it work less well, meaning your depression symptoms or sleep aren't as well controlled.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This concern comes from animal and lab studies only, not from people, so it's mostly theoretical. The small amount of I3C you get from eating broccoli or cabbage is very unlikely to matter; concentrated supplements are the real question. If you're thinking about an I3C supplement, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Mirtazapine Used For?

Mirtazapine tablets, mirtazapine orally disintegrating tablets, Remeron, and RemeronsолTab are all indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults. Major depressive disorder involves a persistently low or sad mood most days, often accompanied by loss of interest, sleep changes, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating.

The effectiveness of mirtazapine tablets in maintaining a response for up to 40 weeks after an initial treatment period has also been demonstrated. Patients should be reassessed periodically to determine whether continued treatment is needed.
