CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Ephedrine, Phenobarbital, Potassium Iodide, Theophylline
Ephedrine, Phenobarbital, Potassium Iodide, Theophylline falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Jackfruit interacts with.
Animal research shows that jackfruit seeds can cause sedation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
This combination product contains phenobarbital, a barbiturate that calms the nervous system and is the piece that matters here. The concern is simple: jackfruit seeds may have a mild sedating effect of their own, so in theory they could add to phenobarbital's drowsiness. That could mean feeling extra sleepy, foggy, lightheaded, or less coordinated than usual.
Honestly, this is a theoretical worry based only on animal studies, not real human reports, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Eating jackfruit as a normal food is very unlikely to cause a problem. Concentrated seed extracts are the bigger unknown. If you're using a strong jackfruit supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first, and notice how alert you feel.

About Jackfruit
What is Jackfruit?
- General nutrition
- Blood sugar support
- Digestive health (fiber)
- Antioxidant support
- Wound care (traditional, latex/leaves)
Jackfruit is a large tropical fruit that is nutritious and safe to eat as a food, offering fiber, vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants. While its leaves, seeds, and other parts are used in traditional medicine for things like blood sugar and digestion, strong human evidence for these supplement uses is limited. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated jackfruit products for a health condition.
