What is Jalap?

Jalap is a powerful traditional laxative made from the root of a Mexican morning-glory plant. It is rarely used today because it can cause violent diarrhea, cramping, and dehydration, and safer laxatives are available. It is not recommended for routine self-treatment, and pregnant or breastfeeding people should avoid it.

Salsalate tablets are used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and related rheumatic disorders. It helps relieve pain, swelling, and stiffness associated with these conditions.

It is not approved for use in children, and it must not be used for pain relief around the time of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) heart surgery.
