Ibuprofen, Hydrocodone falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Jequirity interacts with.

Evidence from in vitro research suggests that constituents of jequirity beans can inhibit platelet aggregation. Theoretically, jequirity might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs. Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

First things first: jequirity seeds are genuinely poisonous (they contain abrin, a toxin much like ricin), so this isn't something you should ever take as a supplement. Please don't go near it. With that said, here's the interaction you asked about. Your medication combines ibuprofen, an anti-inflammatory that already thins the blood a little and can irritate the stomach, with hydrocodone, an opioid pain reliever.

In lab studies, compounds in jequirity appear to slow down platelets, the cells that help your blood clot. In theory, pairing that with ibuprofen could nudge your bleeding risk up a bit, meaning easier bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach bleeding. This is theoretical only, based on test-tube data, not real patient cases. The bigger concern here is the toxin itself. If you have any questions, talk with your pharmacist or doctor.

In vitro research shows that jequirity extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Theoretically, taking jequirity may inhibit the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.

Let me be upfront: jequirity seeds aren't something you should ever take. They contain abrin, a poison closely related to ricin, and there's no safe or proven medical use for them. So my first piece of advice has nothing to do with your Ibucodone (ibuprofen plus hydrocodone) and everything to do with steering clear of this plant entirely.

As for the interaction itself, it's only theoretical, based on lab dish studies, not real people. The idea is that jequirity might slow the CYP3A4 enzyme that helps clear the hydrocodone part of your pill, which could let it build up and add to drowsiness, dizziness, slowed breathing, or constipation. The evidence here is very weak. Still, please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing anything new with this medication.

Despite a long history in traditional medicine, the seeds are dangerously poisonous and there is no reliable evidence that it is safe or effective. It should not be used as a supplement or medicine.
