Niacin, Lovastatin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Jequirity interacts with.

In vitro research shows that jequirity extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Theoretically, taking jequirity may inhibit the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.

Let me start with the most important thing: jequirity seeds contain abrin, a poison closely related to ricin. You should never take this as a supplement at all, regardless of your medications. So the real safety issue here isn't the drug interaction, it's the toxin itself.

That said, here's the theory on file. Your Advicor contains lovastatin, which your body clears using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies (just test tube data, not people) suggest jequirity might slow that enzyme down. If that happened, lovastatin could build up, which can raise the risk of muscle aches, weakness, or rarely serious muscle breakdown. The evidence is very weak and this is unlikely to matter in practice. Please skip jequirity entirely and check with your pharmacist or doctor.
