Tazemetostat Hydrobromide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Jequirity interacts with.

In vitro research shows that jequirity extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Theoretically, taking jequirity may inhibit the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here's the basic idea: your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down and clear tazemetostat (Tazverik). In lab dish studies, jequirity extract seems to slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in a real person, tazemetostat could clear more slowly and build up, which could mean stronger side effects like fatigue, nausea, low blood counts, or a higher risk of infection.

That said, this is only a theoretical concern from test-tube work, rated minor and unlikely, so I wouldn't lose sleep over the interaction itself. The bigger issue is jequirity. Its seeds contain abrin, a severe poison, and it simply shouldn't be used. Please skip it and talk with your oncologist or pharmacist about anything you're taking alongside Tazverik.

Jequirity (Abrus precatorius) is a tropical plant whose bright red, black-tipped seeds contain abrin, one of the most toxic plant proteins known. Despite a long history in traditional medicine, the seeds are dangerously poisonous and there is no reliable evidence that it is safe or effective. It should not be used as a supplement or medicine.

What Is Tazemetostat Used For?

Brand name: Tazverik

Tazverik (tazemetostat) tablets are used to treat adults and patients aged 16 and older with metastatic or locally advanced epithelioid sarcoma (a rare soft-tissue cancer) that cannot be completely removed by surgery.

Tazverik is also used in adults with relapsed or refractory follicular lymphoma — meaning the lymphoma has come back or stopped responding to treatment — either when the tumor carries a specific EZH2 gene mutation (confirmed by an FDA-approved test) after at least two prior treatments, or when there are no other satisfactory treatment options. Both uses were approved based on response rates, and continued approval may depend on results from ongoing confirmatory studies.
