Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Vincristine Sulfate
Vincristine Sulfate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Jequirity interacts with.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
First, the most important thing: jequirity seeds are extremely poisonous because of a toxin called abrin. This isn't something you should ever take as a supplement, full stop. So the real concern here is the plant's toxicity, not a subtle drug interaction.
On the interaction itself, here's the idea. Your body clears vincristine mainly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies suggest jequirity can slow that enzyme down, which in theory could let vincristine build up. With a chemo drug like this, higher levels can mean worse side effects such as nerve tingling or numbness, constipation, and low blood counts. But this is only test-tube evidence, so it's theoretical. Please run any supplement by your oncology team first.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
- AHigh-quality meta-analysis (quantitative systematic review).
- BCase-control study.
- CConsensus.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Vincristine Sulfate page
“Chemotherapy leaves little room for error, and vincristine sulfate (Marqibo) is no exception. Nearly everything on this list changes how the body handles the drug through a pathway called CYP3A4, so a supplement can either push vincristine levels high enough to worsen its nerve toxicity or drop them low enough to blunt the cancer treat…”

What is Jequirity?
- Asthma and cough
- Fever
- Sore throat and bronchitis
- Liver complaints (hepatitis)
- Constipation
- Traditional infectious-disease remedies
Jequirity (Abrus precatorius) is a tropical plant whose bright red, black-tipped seeds contain abrin, one of the most toxic plant proteins known. Despite a long history in traditional medicine, the seeds are dangerously poisonous and there is no reliable evidence that it is safe or effective. It should not be used as a supplement or medicine.
