Oxaprozin falls under NONSTEROIDAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUGS (NSAIDs) — the group Lithium interacts with.

Theoretically, taking lithium supplements with NSAIDs might increase lithium levels and adverse effects.
NSAIDs can decrease the renal clearance of lithium and increase lithium levels. It is unclear if this interaction would be clinically significant with the smaller doses found in lithium supplements.

Here's the thing to know about pairing oxaprozin (Daypro) with a lithium supplement. Oxaprozin is an NSAID, and NSAIDs can make your kidneys hold onto lithium instead of clearing it out. When that happens, lithium levels in your blood can creep up, and lithium is one of those medicines where even small increases can cause trouble, like nausea, tremor, confusion, or feeling unsteady.

I'll be honest with you, though: this concern is based on how these drugs work in theory, not on strong studies, and it really applies to prescription-strength lithium. With the tiny amounts in over-the-counter lithium orotate, it's unclear whether it matters much. Still, since lithium has so little reliable benefit as a supplement, please run this combo by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Oxaprozin treats the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis — reducing joint pain, swelling, and stiffness. These uses are shared across available oral formulations, including Coxanto capsules, Oxaprozin capsules, and Oxaprozin tablets (including Daypro).

Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis dosing for children ages 6 to 16 is weight-based and has been studied with both the capsule and tablet formulations.
