PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS
Why this applies to Delafloxacin (Oral)
Delafloxacin (Oral) falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Masterwort interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the thing about pairing masterwort with delafloxacin (Baxdela): both can make your skin more reactive to sunlight. Delafloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, and that whole family is known for sun sensitivity. Masterwort carries furanocoumarins, plant compounds that do the same thing. Put them together and the effects can stack up.
In real life, that could mean an exaggerated sunburn, redness, or a rash on sun-exposed skin even after fairly short time outdoors. I'll be honest, this concern is based on how these compounds behave rather than strong human studies. Still, while you're on this antibiotic, it's worth being cautious with sun, using sunscreen and cover-up, and checking with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

About Masterwort
What is Masterwort?

- Traditional tonic
Masterwort (Heracleum sphondylium), a plant in the carrot family, has a long folk-medicine history for digestion, nerves, and skin. Modern scientific evidence to support these uses is very limited, and the plant can cause skin reactions to sunlight, so use it cautiously and talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.
