Here's the thing to know about pairing masterwort with Depakote (divalproex sodium): this isn't about how your body breaks the medicine down or how well it controls your seizures, mood, or migraines. Masterwort contains plant compounds called furanocoumarins that can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, and Depakote is listed among drugs that can do the same thing. Put them together and the sun-sensitivity effect may add up.

What that could look like is easier sunburn, a rash, or skin irritation after time outdoors. This is a theoretical concern based on how these compounds behave, not strong real-world proof, so don't panic. Valproic acid capsules (brands Valproic and Valproic Acid) and valproic acid oral solution (brand Valproic Acid) are both used to treat epilepsy. Specifically, they are approved for complex partial seizures (either alone or with other seizure types) as monotherapy or add-on therapy, and for simple and complex absence seizures as sole therapy or add-on therapy.
