Here is the idea behind this one. Melatonin can give your immune system a little nudge to be more active. Durvalumab (Imfinzi) is a cancer immunotherapy that already works by ramping up your immune system to attack tumor cells. So unlike the classic concern where a supplement weakens an anti-rejection drug, the worry here is the opposite direction: melatonin and durvalumab might both be pushing immune activity in the same direction.

In plain terms, there is a theoretical chance this could affect how your immune-related side effects show up, things like fatigue, rash, or inflammation in the lungs, thyroid, or gut. I want to stress this is based on weak, mostly lab-level evidence, not strong human studies. Please don't start or stop either one on your own. Just give your oncology team or pharmacist a quick heads-up before adding melatonin.

Melatonin is a hormone your body makes naturally to help control your sleep-wake cycle, and the supplement form is widely used to help with sleep timing problems and jet lag. The evidence is strongest for certain circadian (body-clock) disorders and is more mixed for everyday insomnia. It is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially for children or during pregnancy.

About Durvalumab Injection

What Is Durvalumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Imfinzi

Imfinzi is used to treat a wide range of cancers in adults. For lung cancer, it is approved for resectable non-small cell lung cancer (given before and after surgery), unresectable Stage III non-small cell lung cancer (after chemoradiation), metastatic non-small cell lung cancer, limited-stage small cell lung cancer (after chemoradiation), and extensive-stage small cell lung cancer.

Beyond lung cancer, Imfinzi is also approved for locally advanced or metastatic biliary tract cancer (cancers of the bile ducts and gallbladder), unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer), mismatch repair deficient (dMMR) advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer, BCG-naive high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer, muscle-invasive bladder cancer, and resectable gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma (stomach cancer at the junction with the esophagus). Most of these uses involve Imfinzi given alongside other chemotherapy drugs.
