These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Melatonin interacts with whole categories of medication. Beclomethasone falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Melatonin in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS
1 of 2Why this applies to Beclomethasone
Beclomethasone falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Melatonin interacts with.
Melatonin can stimulate immune function. Theoretically, melatonin might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the basic idea behind this flag: melatonin can give the immune system a little nudge to be more active, while medicines that calm the immune system are meant to quiet things down. On paper, those two could work against each other. With your inhaled beclomethasone, though, I want to keep this in perspective. This is a steroid you breathe in to settle swelling and irritation in your airways, and very little of it gets into the rest of your body. Its job is local, in the lungs, not body-wide immune suppression.
So the theoretical worry would be slightly weaker control of asthma symptoms (more wheezing, cough, or chest tightness), but honestly this concern fits high-dose, whole-body immune drugs far better than a low-dose inhaler. The evidence here is weak and mostly theoretical, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, it's worth a quick mention to your pharmacist or doctor so they can weigh in for your situation.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Beclomethasone also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
Laboratory research shows that certain lots of melatonin inhibit CYP3A4. Theoretically, combined administration of melatonin with certain drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 may reduce the metabolism of these drugs, resulting in increased serum levels. Until more is known, use melatonin cautiously in patients taking drugs metabolized by these enzymes.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for your asthma inhaler. On paper, melatonin might slow down an enzyme called CYP3A4, which is one of the pathways your body uses to break down beclomethasone. If that enzyme works slower, a little more of the steroid could hang around than usual. In theory, that might mean slightly more of the typical inhaled steroid effects, like a hoarse voice, mouth or throat irritation, or thrush (a white yeast infection in the mouth).
Honestly though, I wouldn't lose sleep over this one. This is a minor flag based only on lab research, not real patient cases, and inhaled beclomethasone delivers a small dose mostly to your lungs. If you notice anything off, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Beclomethasone page
“Most people on beclomethasone (Beclovent, Vanceril) use it daily to keep asthma or nasal allergies quiet, and plenty also take herbal products, which is where this list earns real caution. Of the 202 ingredients on this page, four rate major, and those deserve your attention ahead of everything else.”

About Melatonin
What is Melatonin?
- Trouble falling asleep (insomnia)
- Jet lag
- Delayed sleep phase syndrome
- Non-24-hour sleep-wake disorder
- Shift-work sleep problems
- Sleep problems in some children with conditions like autism or ADHD
Melatonin is a hormone your body makes naturally to help control your sleep-wake cycle, and the supplement form is widely used to help with sleep timing problems and jet lag. The evidence is strongest for certain circadian (body-clock) disorders and is more mixed for everyday insomnia. It is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially for children or during pregnancy.
About Beclomethasone Oral Inhalation
What Is Beclomethasone Oral Inhalation Used For?
Brand names: Beclovent, Vanceril
Beclomethasone dipropionate HFA inhalation aerosol (brand: Qvar Redihaler) is used for the ongoing, daily management of asthma in adults and children 5 years of age and older. It is a preventive (maintenance) therapy — not a rescue inhaler — meaning it helps control asthma over time rather than treating sudden symptoms.
Important: Qvar Redihaler is not for the relief of sudden asthma attacks or acute bronchospasm. Always keep a separate fast-acting (rescue) inhaler on hand for those moments.
