Meprobamate falls under GLUCURONIDATED DRUGS — the group Milk Thistle interacts with.

Theoretically, milk thistle might affect the clearance of drugs that undergo glucuronidation.
Laboratory research shows that milk thistle constituents inhibit uridine diphosphoglucuronosyl transferase (UGT), the major phase 2 enzyme that is responsible for glucuronidation. Theoretically, this could decrease the clearance and increase levels of glucuronidated drugs. Other laboratory research suggests that a milk thistle extract of silymarin might inhibit beta-glucuronidase, although the significance of this effect is unclear.

Here's the gist with milk thistle and meprobamate. Your body partly clears meprobamate by attaching a sugar molecule to it, a process called glucuronidation. In test tube studies, milk thistle's silymarin compounds appear to slow down the enzyme (UGT) that does this. In theory, that could let meprobamate clear a little more slowly and build up in your system.

If that happened, you might feel more of what meprobamate already does: extra drowsiness, dizziness, grogginess, or feeling unsteady. I want to be honest though, this is based only on lab work, not real people, so we don't know if it truly matters in everyday life. To be safe, run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and watch for unusual sleepiness.

Meprobamate tablets are used to manage anxiety disorders or to provide short-term relief of anxiety symptoms. It is intended for anxiety that rises to the level of a disorder — everyday stress and tension that most people experience generally do not require this type of medication.

Because its effectiveness beyond four months has not been well studied, meprobamate is typically used for a limited period of time, with a prescriber checking in regularly to decide whether continued use is still appropriate.
