N,n-dmpea and Cefotaxime

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Cefotaxime and N,n-dmpea in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Cefotaxime

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Cefotaxime is filed under 7 classifications — including organic anion transporter 3 (oat3) substrates, organic anion transporter 1 (oat1) substrates, antibiotic drugs. N,n-dmpea has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being cytochrome p450 2d6 (cyp2d6) substrates (moderate) — and none of Cefotaxime’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Cefotaxime. Read the label on DailyMed › N,n-dmpea’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no N,n-dmpea side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that N,n-dmpea has no side effects.

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Cefotaxime

This page covers N,n-dmpea only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Cefotaxime page lists 45 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.

The most serious there right now: Asarabacca (major), Siberian Cocklebur (major), African Wild Potato (moderate), Aristolochia (moderate) and Bacillus Coagulans (moderate).

By severity: 2 major · 39 moderate · 4 minor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Cefotaxime page

“The two entries worth understanding first on this cefotaxime (Claforan) list are Siberian cocklebur and asarabacca. Both can damage the kidneys on their own, and stacking that on an injectable antibiotic often given to people who are already quite sick is a risk I would not take lightly.”

About N,n-dmpea

What is N,n-dmpea?

  • Mood or energy support
  • Pre-workout or stimulant effect
  • Cognitive or focus support

N,N-DMPEA (N,N-dimethylphenethylamine) is a synthetic relative of phenethylamine sometimes marketed in stimulant or pre-workout supplements. There is very little reliable human research on its effects or safety, and it is not a well-established dietary ingredient, so it should be approached with real caution.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether N,n-dmpea is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our N,n-dmpea record says about it on its own.

N,n-dmpea: dosing

There is no established or standardized safe dose of N,N-DMPEA. Because it has not been properly studied in humans, no reliable dosing guidance exists. If a product contains it, follow the product label, but understand that label amounts may not be accurate or safe.

About Cefotaxime Injection

What Is Cefotaxime Injection Used For?

Brand name: Claforan

Cefotaxime Injection is used to treat serious bacterial infections in many parts of the body — including the lungs, urinary tract, skin, bones and joints, abdomen, reproductive organs, and central nervous system (such as meningitis). It also treats bloodstream infections (septicemia) and certain sexually transmitted infections, including gonorrhea.

It is also given before certain surgeries — such as abdominal or vaginal hysterectomy, gastrointestinal surgery, and cesarean section — to reduce the risk of postoperative infection. Because cefotaxime has no activity against Chlamydia trachomatis, an additional antibiotic must be added when that organism is a suspected cause of pelvic inflammatory disease.
