Here's the gist for rabeprazole (Pariet): your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break it down. Lab studies suggest a concentrated extract of Padang cassia can slow that enzyme down a bit. In theory, if rabeprazole clears more slowly, a little more could linger in your body, which might nudge up its effects or side effects like headache, nausea, or stomach upset.

The honest truth is this concern comes only from test-tube research, not from people, so it's quite theoretical. Rabeprazole is also a fairly forgiving medication, so this isn't something I'd lose sleep over. Sprinkling cinnamon on your food is no problem. If you're thinking about a concentrated cinnamon supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Padang Cassia is a type of cinnamon (Indonesian or Korintje cinnamon) grown mainly in Indonesia and used widely as a kitchen spice. As a supplement, evidence for health benefits like blood sugar control is limited and mixed, and like other cassia cinnamons it naturally contains coumarin, which can be harmful to the liver in large amounts. Use food amounts freely, but talk to a pharmacist or doctor before taking concentrated cinnamon supplements.

What Is Rabeprazole Used For?

Rabeprazole delayed-release tablets treat a range of acid-related conditions in adults, including healing and maintenance of erosive or ulcerative GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), symptomatic GERD, duodenal ulcers, and pathological hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. They are also used alongside antibiotics (amoxicillin and clarithromycin) to eradicate H. pylori bacteria and reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer coming back.

In adolescents 12 years and older, rabeprazole delayed-release tablets are approved for short-term treatment of symptomatic GERD. Both AcipHex and Rabeprazole Sodium delayed-release tablets share this indication set for adults and adolescents 12 and older.
