Cilazapril (Inhibace) is an ACE inhibitor that lowers your blood pressure. Periwinkle contains a compound called vincamine, which lab and animal studies suggest may relax and widen blood vessels on its own. So the concern here is simple: if periwinkle nudges your pressure down at the same time your cilazapril is already doing that job, the two effects could add up.

If that happened, you might feel the typical signs of pressure dropping too low, like dizziness, lightheadedness, feeling faint when you stand up, or unusual tiredness. Keep in mind this is a theoretical interaction based on how these compounds behave, not strong human studies, so it may not be a big deal for everyone. Still, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding periwinkle, and don't change your cilazapril on your own.

Periwinkle (Vinca minor) is a flowering plant whose alkaloids are the source of vinpocetine, a compound marketed for memory and brain circulation. Evidence in humans is limited and mixed, and the plant contains potent compounds that can be toxic in larger amounts, so it should be used only with professional guidance. A closely related plant, Madagascar periwinkle, is the source of important cancer chemotherapy drugs but is not safe to use as a home remedy.
