Here's the gist with periwinkle and fosinopril: periwinkle contains a compound called vincamine that may gently lower blood pressure on its own. Fosinopril is already working hard to bring your pressure down, so stacking the two could add up. In theory, your blood pressure might dip lower than intended.

What might that feel like? Things like dizziness, lightheadedness when you stand up, fatigue, or feeling a bit washed out. I'll be honest with you though: this is a theoretical concern based on how periwinkle behaves, not strong human studies, so it isn't a sure thing. Still, since both lower pressure, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if your readings already run low.

Periwinkle (Vinca minor) is a flowering plant whose alkaloids are the source of vinpocetine, a compound marketed for memory and brain circulation. Evidence in humans is limited and mixed, and the plant contains potent compounds that can be toxic in larger amounts, so it should be used only with professional guidance. A closely related plant, Madagascar periwinkle, is the source of important cancer chemotherapy drugs but is not safe to use as a home remedy.

What Is Fosinopril Used For?

Brand name: Monopril

Fosinopril Sodium tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). They can be used alone or combined with a water pill (diuretic) when blood pressure needs more control.

Fosinopril Sodium tablets are also used as part of a treatment plan for heart failure, added on top of other standard therapies such as diuretics, with or without digitalis.
