Olanzapine falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Psilocybin interacts with.

Theoretically, combining psilocybin with serotonergic drugs might cause additive serotonergic effects.
Psilocybin has serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptor agonist activity. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with psilocybin might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the interesting twist with these two. Olanzapine (Zyprexa) actually blocks certain serotonin receptors, including the same 5-HT2A receptor that psilocybin's active form, psilocin, switches on. So in theory they pull in opposite directions. Olanzapine could blunt or reduce the psychedelic effects of psilocybin, and there's even some research using antipsychotics to dampen a trip.

The flip side is that any two drugs touching the serotonin system together raise a small, mostly theoretical worry about too much serotonin activity (things like agitation, fast heartbeat, sweating, or shakiness). This combo hasn't actually been reported to cause problems in people, so this is based on pharmacology, not real cases. Still, psilocybin isn't a safe thing to mix on your own. Please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before combining anything with your olanzapine.

About Olanzapine

What Is Olanzapine Used For?

Brand name: Zyprexa

Olanzapine treats schizophrenia and the manic or mixed episodes of bipolar I disorder in both adults and adolescents (ages 13–17). It can also be used alongside valproate or lithium to treat manic or mixed episodes in adults. When combined with fluoxetine, olanzapine tablets and orally disintegrating tablets are used to treat depressive episodes associated with bipolar I disorder and treatment-resistant depression in adults.

Olanzapine intramuscular injection (short-acting) is used by healthcare providers to quickly calm acute agitation in adults with schizophrenia or bipolar I mania. Zyprexa Relprevv — a separate, long-acting intramuscular formulation available only through a restricted program — is indicated specifically for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults.
