Triazolam falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Tianeptine interacts with.

Tianeptine has sedative effects; high doses may have additive effects with other CNS depressants.
Higher doses of tianeptine have opioid like effects and may have additive effects with other sedative drugs. In one case report, a 42-year-old male presented with respiratory depression and aspiration pneumonia due to concomitant use of high-dose tianeptine and alprazolam.

Here's the concern when tianeptine and triazolam (Halcion) are taken together. Triazolam already calms down activity in your brain to help you sleep, and tianeptine at higher doses acts a lot like an opioid, which is also sedating. When you stack two things that both slow the nervous system, their effects can pile on top of each other. That means more pronounced drowsiness, confusion, poor coordination, slowed breathing, and in a worst-case situation, dangerously shallow breathing.

This is mostly a theoretical worry based on how these drugs behave, but there is a real case report of serious breathing trouble when high-dose tianeptine was combined with a benzodiazepine. I'd urge you not to combine these without talking to your doctor or pharmacist first.

What Is Triazolam Used For?

Brand names: Halcion, Triazo, Apo-Triazo, Gen-Triazolam, Mylan-Triazolam, Novo-Triolam, Nu-Triazo

Triazolam tablets are approved for the short-term treatment of insomnia in adults. Treatment is generally intended for 7 to 10 days. Halcion (a brand of triazolam) is specifically indicated for this same short-term use in adults.

Using triazolam for more than 2 to 3 weeks requires a full re-evaluation by your doctor to rule out an underlying medical or psychiatric condition driving the sleep problem.
