Tramadol falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Tianeptine interacts with.

Tianeptine has sedative effects; high doses may have additive effects with other CNS depressants.
Higher doses of tianeptine have opioid like effects and may have additive effects with other sedative drugs. In one case report, a 42-year-old male presented with respiratory depression and aspiration pneumonia due to concomitant use of high-dose tianeptine and alprazolam.

Here's the thing to watch with this combination: both tramadol and tianeptine can slow down your brain and breathing. Tramadol is an opioid pain reliever, and at higher doses tianeptine acts a lot like an opioid too. Stack them together and those calming, drowsy effects can pile up. That means more sedation, foggy thinking, slowed breathing, and in a worst-case situation, dangerously shallow breaths. There's even a case report of someone landing in serious trouble mixing high-dose tianeptine with another sedative.

This is based mostly on how these drugs behave (theoretical pharmacology), but I'd still take it seriously given tianeptine's real opioid-like risks. Please don't start or change anything on your own. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.
