Flurazepam falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Tianeptine interacts with.

Tianeptine has sedative effects; high doses may have additive effects with other CNS depressants.
Higher doses of tianeptine have opioid like effects and may have additive effects with other sedative drugs. In one case report, a 42-year-old male presented with respiratory depression and aspiration pneumonia due to concomitant use of high-dose tianeptine and alprazolam.

Flurazepam is a benzodiazepine sleeping pill that already slows down your brain to help you drift off. The worry here is that tianeptine, especially at the high doses found in those 'gas station' products, can act a lot like an opioid and pile sedation on top of sedation. Stacked together, the two could leave you very groggy, unsteady on your feet, confused, and in the worst case slow your breathing down dangerously. There is even a case report of someone running into trouble mixing high-dose tianeptine with a similar drug (alprazolam).

This concern is based mostly on how these substances behave rather than large studies, so think of it as a real but theoretical caution. Please don't start, stop, or change either one on your own. Loop in your doctor or pharmacist first, and honestly, I'd steer clear of unregulated tianeptine altogether.

What Is Flurazepam Used For?

Brand names: Dalmane, Somnol, Apo-Flurazepam, Bio-Flurazepam, Novo-Flurazepam, PMS-Flurazepam, Som Pam

Flurazepam Hydrochloride capsules are used to treat insomnia. Specifically, they help with difficulty falling asleep, frequent wake-ups during the night, and early morning awakening.

Because insomnia is often short-lived, flurazepam is generally intended for short-term use. If sleep problems don't improve within 7 to 10 days of treatment, a healthcare provider should evaluate whether an underlying medical or psychiatric condition may be the cause.
