This combination cold and allergy product contains acetaminophen (the same medicine in Tylenol), and acetaminophen is the part to watch here. Acetaminophen is processed by your liver, and in higher doses it can stress the liver. The concern with turmeric is that concentrated supplements, especially the high-dose, high-absorption (bioavailable) formulas, have been linked in rare reports to liver irritation. Stacking two things that lean on the liver could, in theory, add up.

I want to be honest about the evidence: this is mostly theoretical and based on scattered case reports, not strong studies. The turmeric you sprinkle on food is very unlikely to cause trouble. If you take a concentrated turmeric supplement regularly and use acetaminophen products, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on dosing.

Theoretically, turmeric might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2. However, research is conflicting.
In vitro and animal research show that the turmeric constituent, curcumin, inhibits CYP1A2. However, other in vitro research suggests that curcumin does not significantly affect CYP1A2.

Here's the gist with this combination cold-and-allergy product. Lab and animal studies hint that curcumin (the active part of turmeric) might slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. If that happened, drugs cleared by that enzyme could build up a bit. In theory, that might nudge up the usual effects you'd feel from this product, like the drowsiness from diphenhydramine or the jittery, wide-awake feeling from pseudoephedrine.

That said, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The evidence is weak and even conflicting, and none of these three ingredients lean heavily on CYP1A2 anyway. Food amounts of turmeric in cooking are no concern. If you're taking a concentrated curcumin supplement, just give your pharmacist a heads-up so we can keep an eye on things.
