Linagliptin, Metformin Hydrochloride falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Turmeric interacts with.

Theoretically, taking turmeric with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research and case reports suggest that curcumin, a turmeric constituent, can reduce blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes. Furthermore, clinical research in adults with type 2 diabetes shows that taking curcumin 475 mg daily for 10 days prior to taking glyburide 5 mg decreased postprandial glucose levels for up to 24 hours when compared with glyburide alone, despite the lack of a significant pharmacokinetic interaction. Other clinical studies in patients with diabetes show that taking curcumin daily can reduce blood glucose levels when compared with placebo.

Here's the simple version. Your Jentadueto XR already lowers blood sugar through two medicines, linagliptin and metformin. Turmeric, especially as a concentrated curcumin supplement, may nudge blood sugar down a little on its own. Put them together and the worry is that your numbers could dip too low.

This is mostly a theoretical, additive concern, and the evidence is fairly weak (small studies and animal data). The sprinkle of turmeric in your cooking is very unlikely to cause trouble. A daily curcumin capsule is where I'd pay attention. Watch for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy, and check your sugar if you can. Before starting a supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor so your dosing stays right.

Here's the gist with Jentadueto XR (linagliptin plus metformin) and turmeric. One of these ingredients, linagliptin, is moved around by a transporter called P-glycoprotein. Turmeric's curcumin compounds might slow that transporter down, which could let a bit more linagliptin get absorbed. In plain terms, that could nudge its blood-sugar-lowering effect slightly stronger. With this drug, watch for signs of low blood sugar like shakiness, sweating, or feeling lightheaded, especially if you also take other diabetes meds.

That said, this is a theoretical concern based only on lab and animal studies, and it's rated minor. Turmeric you use in cooking is very unlikely to matter. If you're taking a concentrated curcumin supplement daily, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your sugars.
