Warfarin falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Umckaloabo interacts with.

Theoretically, Pelargonium sidoides might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs.
Pelargonium sidoides contains coumarin, which may reduce platelet aggregation. However, in animal models, Pelargonium sidoides extract does not appear to inhibit coagulation or interact with warfarin. This interaction has not been documented in humans.

Here's the honest picture: warfarin is a finicky blood thinner where even small shifts can matter, so any added bleeding risk is worth a look. Umckaloabo does contain small amounts of coumarin-type compounds, and on paper that raises a question of whether it could nudge your blood toward thinner, raising the chance of things like easy bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums.

But the real-world evidence here is very thin. This is a theoretical concern only. In animal studies, the extract didn't actually interfere with clotting or with warfarin, and no human cases have been reported. I wouldn't lose sleep over short-term use, but since warfarin is so sensitive, let your pharmacist or doctor know before you start it, especially around INR checks.

What Is Warfarin Used For?

Brand name: Warfarin

Warfarin sodium tablets and Jantoven tablets are both used to prevent and treat venous thrombosis (blood clots in the veins) and pulmonary embolism (a clot in the lungs). They are also used to prevent clot-related complications in people with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm) or who have had a heart valve replaced.

In people who have had a heart attack, warfarin is used to reduce the risk of death, another heart attack, stroke, or other clotting events. It does not dissolve an existing clot, but it helps prevent the clot from growing and stops new dangerous clots from forming.
