Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Children's ProBio SAP contains 10 active probiotic bacterial strains: Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium longum, Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus (two strains), Bifidobacterium infantis, Lactobacillus helveticus, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum, Lacticaseibacillus casei, Streptococcus salivarius ssp. thermophilus, and Lactobacillus delbrueckii ssp. bulgaricus. These are live-culture probiotics meant to support the child's gut bacteria.
The powder also contains inactive ingredients including potato starch, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), inulin, arabinogalactan, and vegetable magnesium stearate.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for these strains in children is mixed and often limited. Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum are rated possibly effective for atopic dermatitis (eczema) and antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
Lactiplantibacillus plantarum also shows possibly effective evidence for high cholesterol, ulcerative colitis, and the common cold. For most other claimed uses—allergic rhinitis, asthma, cognitive function, depression, and others—the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate effectiveness.
You'll want to talk with your child's doctor about whether this product is a good fit for your child's specific needs.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotic strains are generally well tolerated in healthy children. However, limited safety data exist overall, and you should check with your child's healthcare provider before use.
Gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, flatulence, and diarrhea have been reported rarely with some strains. More seriously, rare cases of bacteremia and sepsis caused by these probiotic bacteria have occurred in critically ill infants and children, particularly premature infants in hospital settings or those who are severely immunocompromised.
For pregnancy and breastfeeding, Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus and Lacticaseibacillus casei are rated possibly safe; Bifidobacterium longum is rated possibly safe for both; and data for the other strains are not on file.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If your child takes any antibiotic medication, do not give this probiotic at the same time. Space them several hours apart so the antibiotic doesn't kill the live organisms in the powder.
Use the medication checker on this page to identify any antibiotics before you start.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product is a multi-strain probiotic for children formulated with live bacteria. It's generally well tolerated in healthy kids, but it's not right for every child—particularly those who are critically ill or have weakened immune systems.
Before you start it, check with your child's doctor or pharmacist, especially if your child is taking antibiotics (timing matters). If your child has any serious illness or is in intensive care, this needs a healthcare provider's approval.

Children's ProBio SAP by NFH Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Children's ProBio SAP by NFH is a probiotic powder that interacts with antibiotic drugs.
All ten of its active bacterial strains can theoretically become less effective if you give antibiotics at the same time, because the antibiotics may kill the live organisms in the product. The way to handle this is to space them out — don't give them together.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Although antibiotic interactions are the only drug interactions documented for this product's ingredients, the safety data for probiotics in children warrants extra care. Probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy kids, but serious infections—including bacteremia (bacteria in the bloodstream) and sepsis—have rarely occurred in critically ill or immunocompromised children given probiotic products.
The risk appears highest in very young infants in intensive care settings.
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to verify any antibiotics your child takes before starting this product, and separate the timing as advised by your pharmacist.
