What’s inside
Low disclosure
Chromium Gold contains five active ingredients across an organic, sprouted whole-food blend: chromium (the 200 mcg dose), organic lentil, organic navy bean, organic garbanzo bean, and organic moringa. The inactive ingredient is a pullulan capsule (a plant-based capsule material).
Chromium is a mineral that plays a role in how your body handles blood sugar and processes nutrients. Moringa is a plant leaf traditionally used in some cultures for its nutritional profile.
The beans and lentil are whole-food sources that round out the blend.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
For chromium deficiency, this supplement is likely effective — it's the appropriate use case for chromium supplementation. For type 2 diabetes, chromium is possibly effective, though results vary person to person.
The evidence doesn't support chromium for prediabetes, schizophrenia, or high blood pressure. For moringa, we don't hold established evidence on its effectiveness for any of the conditions in our data — iron deficiency anemia, asthma, athletic performance, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, and high cholesterol all show insufficient reliable evidence to rate it one way or the other.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Chromium is generally well tolerated at typical supplement doses, though at high or long-term doses it may pose risks for some people. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal irritation, headaches, insomnia, irritability, and mood changes.
Rare but serious effects like kidney or liver damage, muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis), and low platelet counts have been reported. Chromium may also cause skin rashes or contact dermatitis in people with a chromium allergy.
Moringa leaf appears well tolerated as food, but high-quality safety data are limited for medicinal doses. Transient diarrhea is the most common side effect; rare cases of serious allergic reactions and Stevens-Johnson syndrome (a severe skin condition) have been reported.
The root and bark may not be safe and could stimulate the uterus, though the leaf in this product is what carries this note. For pregnancy, chromium carries mixed ratings — it's listed as both Likely Safe and Possibly Safe — so you'll want to talk with your doctor.
Moringa in pregnancy is Possibly Safe or Possibly Unsafe depending on the dose. For breastfeeding, chromium is Likely Safe, and moringa is Possibly Safe, but limited data exist for both.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, check with your pharmacist if you take antidiabetes drugs or insulin — chromium may increase the risk of low blood sugar when combined with them. Levothyroxine (Synthroid) users need to flag this too, since both chromium and moringa in this product may interfere with absorption or action.
If you take any CYP3A4 substrates or P-glycoprotein substrates (ask your pharmacist if you're not sure), NSAIDs, or aspirin, those also warrant a review before adding this supplement.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product may be worth considering if you have a chromium deficiency and don't take thyroid medication or diabetes drugs. If you're on any prescription medications — especially for blood sugar, thyroid function, or if you regularly use NSAIDs — check with your pharmacist first.
The interaction profile is substantial, and your individual medications matter.

Chromium Gold 200 mcg by NutriGold Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Chromium Gold 200 mcg by NutriGold contains chromium and moringa, both of which have documented interactions with medications.
The most serious concern is chromium's Moderate-severity interaction with antidiabetes drugs and insulin — chromium may lower blood sugar levels on its own, and combined with these medications it could increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). If you take insulin or any diabetes medication, you'll want to flag this with your pharmacist before starting.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Chromium also interacts Moderately with levothyroxine (Synthroid and similar thyroid medications) by potentially reducing how much of the drug your body absorbs. Moringa in this product has its own Moderate interaction with levothyroxine, working through a different mechanism.
NSAIDs like ibuprofen and aspirin may increase how much chromium your body absorbs, a Minor-severity effect. Moringa carries Moderate interactions with CYP3A4 substrates (a large family of drugs your liver processes) and P-glycoprotein substrates, though the clinical significance is uncertain.
It also has Minor interactions with antidiabetes drugs and several CYP enzymes.
We could not check three ingredients — organic lentil, navy bean, and garbanzo bean — because we hold no interaction data for them. Altogether, these interactions span 927 individual medications.

organic Moringa
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, moringa might increase or decrease levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
Some in vitro research suggests that moringa inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). However, other in vitro research suggests that moringa extract induces CYP3A4 enzymes. A pharmacokinetic study in patients with HIV shows no change in the pharmacokinetics of nevirapine, which is partially metabolized by CYP3A4, when administered concomitantly with moringa leaf powder 1.85 grams daily for 14 days.
Levothyroxine (Synthroid, Others)
Theoretically, moringa leaf can antagonize the effects of levothyroxine.
Animal research suggests that moringa aqueous leaf extract might reduce serum triiodothyronine (T3) concentrations by inhibiting the peripheral conversion of thyroxine (T4) to T3.
P-Glycoprotein Substrates
Theoretically, moringa leaf extract might increase the levels and clinical effects of P-glycoprotein substrates.
In vitro research shows that moringa leaf extract inhibits renal P-glycoprotein transport activity. So far, this reaction has not been reported in humans.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, moringa might have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs; however, research is conflicting.
Animal research shows that moringa can lower blood glucose levels. However, research in humans has not shown consistent blood glucose lowering effects.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, moringa might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that moringa extract induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
Nevirapine (Viramune)
Moringa leaf is unlikely to have a clinically significant interaction with nevirapine.
Nevirapine is partially metabolized by cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). In vitro evidence suggests that moringa inhibits CYP3A4. However, a pharmacokinetic study in patients with HIV shows no change in nevirapine pharmacokinetics when administered concomitantly with moringa leaf powder 1.85 grams daily for 14 days.
Chromium
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, chromium may have additive effects with antidiabetic agents and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Some research shows that taking chromium might lower blood glucose levels, especially in patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes.
Insulin
Theoretically, concomitant use of chromium and insulin might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In clinical research, chromium has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity,
Levothyroxine (Synthroid, Others)
Chromium might bind levothyroxine in the intestinal tract and decrease levothyroxine absorption.
Clinical research in healthy volunteers shows that taking chromium picolinate 1000 mcg with levothyroxine 1 mg decreases serum levels of levothyroxine by 17% when compared to taking levothyroxine alone. Advise patients to take levothyroxine at least 30 minutes before or 3-4 hours after taking chromium.
Aspirin
Theoretically, aspirin might increase chromium absorption.
Animal research suggests that aspirin may increase chromium absorption and chromium levels in the blood.
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (Nsaids)
NSAIDs might increase chromium levels in the body.
Drugs that are prostaglandin inhibitors, such as NSAIDs, seem to increase chromium absorption and retention.
