HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Shilajithills by Herbal Hills
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Shilajithills is a single-ingredient product containing Shuddha Shilajit (purified shilajit), a mineral-rich substance used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. The capsule also includes inactive ingredients—magnesium stearate, silica, and gelatin—which help bind and deliver the active component.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
We don't have reliable evidence in our data to say shilajit works for Alzheimer disease, sexual dysfunction, athletic performance, benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), or osteoporosis. The evidence for these uses is currently insufficient.
If you're considering this product for any of these reasons, talk with your doctor about what the research actually supports and whether it makes sense for you.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Shilajit is generally well tolerated, though a small number of adverse events are reported. One case involved a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) when a woman who'd taken 400 mg daily for 3 months suddenly took 800 mg; she developed hives and then anaphylaxis requiring emergency treatment.
Headache has been reported rarely in research. A case of high blood pressure related to mineral imbalance was reported during pregnancy, though shilajit's exact role is unclear.
During pregnancy, the safety data advises against use because there isn't enough safety information and contamination risk exists. Safety while breastfeeding is unknown, so avoid it.
Critically, only use purified, tested brands—unpurified products may contain heavy metals or other contaminants.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take any antidiabetes drug—including metformin, glibenclamide, insulin, or other blood sugar medications—check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product. Shilajit can enhance their glucose-lowering effect and increase your risk of low blood sugar.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Shilajithills may appeal to you if you're interested in traditional herbal support, but the evidence for its claimed uses is not yet established. If you take any diabetes medication, you need to check with your doctor or pharmacist first because shilajit can lower blood sugar.
Pregnant or breastfeeding? Avoid it.
And always buy from a reputable, tested brand to minimize contamination risk.

Vitality & Revitaliser
Pure – Natural – Effective The ancient medical literature attributes many health benefits of Shilajit known as "Conqueror of mountains & destroyer of weakness". It is decomposition of the plant matter in the rocks centuries before. The transformed plant matter is extruded from the rocks by the geothermal pressures. It is collected in raw form for purification. Shilajit is considered to increase the core energy responsible for sexual and spiritual power. It helps to counteract debility and general fatigue.

Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.
