Aripiprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Adrafinil interacts with.

Theoretically, adrafanil might reduce levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Adrafinil is a precursor to the stimulant prescription drug modafinil. Modafinil has been shown to weakly induce CYP3A4 activity.

Here's the basic idea with this pairing. Your liver turns adrafinil into modafinil, and modafinil can mildly speed up an enzyme called CYP3A4. That same enzyme helps break down aripiprazole (Abilify). So in theory, taking adrafinil alongside it could clear your aripiprazole a little faster and lower its blood levels.

If that happened, the medication might not control your symptoms as well, meaning a possible return of things like mood swings, agitation, or unusual thinking. I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on how the drugs work, not strong real-world evidence, and modafinil's effect on this enzyme is weak. Still, since aripiprazole is keeping your mental health steady, please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.
