Once your liver turns adrafinil into modafinil, that modafinil may gently speed up a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, and it can nudge other enzymes too. The worry is that your birth control could be cleared a little faster, which in theory could weaken how well it works and raise the chance of breakthrough bleeding or, in the bigger picture, a less reliable contraceptive effect.

I want to be honest: this particular concern is theoretical, based on how modafinil behaves in lab studies, not on strong real-world data. Here's the connection between your birth control pill (Yaz) and adrafinil. Adrafinil only works after your liver turns it into modafinil, and modafinil is cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. The estrogen part of your pill can mildly slow that same enzyme. In theory, that could let modafinil build up a bit, meaning more of the stimulant effects like jitteriness, trouble sleeping, headache, fast heartbeat, or anxiety.

Honestly, this concern is based on how these drugs work on paper, not on solid studies, so it's a fairly low-level worry. The bigger issue runs the other way: modafinil can make hormonal birth control less reliable, raising the risk of an unplanned pregnancy.
