Ixazomib Citrate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Adrafinil interacts with.

Theoretically, adrafanil might reduce levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Adrafinil is a precursor to the stimulant prescription drug modafinil. Modafinil has been shown to weakly induce CYP3A4 activity.

Here's the gist of it. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down ixazomib (Ninlaro). Adrafinil turns into modafinil in your body, and modafinil can gently speed up that same enzyme. In theory, that could clear ixazomib out of your system a little faster, which might leave you with less of the cancer-fighting punch you need.

I want to be honest with you: this concern is theoretical, based on how these drugs work rather than real cases. But ixazomib is a serious cancer medicine where every bit of effectiveness matters. Please don't add adrafinil without first checking with your oncologist or pharmacist. It's also unregulated and hard on the liver, so a quick conversation is well worth it.

What Is Ixazomib Used For?

Brand name: Ninlaro

Ninlaro (ixazomib) is used to treat multiple myeloma — a cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow. It is always used together with two other medicines, lenalidomide and dexamethasone, and is approved for adults who have already tried at least one other treatment.

Ninlaro is not recommended as maintenance therapy or for newly diagnosed multiple myeloma in combination with lenalidomide and dexamethasone outside of controlled clinical trials.
