Lurasidone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Adrafinil interacts with.

Theoretically, adrafanil might reduce levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Adrafinil is a precursor to the stimulant prescription drug modafinil. Modafinil has been shown to weakly induce CYP3A4 activity.

Here's the gist for Latuda (lurasidone): your liver relies on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to process it, and lurasidone is unusually sensitive to anything that touches that enzyme. Adrafinil turns into modafinil in your body, and modafinil is a mild 'speed-up' (inducer) of CYP3A4. In theory, that could make your body clear lurasidone a little faster, leaving less of it around to do its job.

What that might look like in real life is your symptoms creeping back, less steady mood, more anxiety, or returning sleep and thinking troubles. To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based on how the drugs work, not proven cases, and modafinil is only a weak inducer. Still, please run it by your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.

What Is Lurasidone Used For?

Brand name: Latuda

Lurasidone hydrochloride tablets are approved to treat schizophrenia in adults and adolescents aged 13 to 17, and to treat depressive episodes associated with bipolar I disorder (bipolar depression) in adults and children aged 10 to 17. Latuda is one of the brand names under which lurasidone is available as a tablet.

For bipolar depression, lurasidone can be used on its own (monotherapy) in adults and pediatric patients aged 10 to 17, or used alongside lithium or valproate (adjunctive therapy) in adults.
