However, there is no evidence to suggest that ashwagandha increases the risk of serotonin-related effects, and there have been no published case reports of serotonin syndrome when combined with other serotonergic drugs. Nevertheless, due to the lack of extensive studies on the matter and the fact that ashwagandha appears to affect serotonergic pathways, it would be prudent to exercise caution when combining it with drugs that affect serotonin. Here's the short version: this is a very mild, mostly theoretical concern. Azstarys (serdexmethylphenidate, a prodrug that converts to active dexmethylphenidate) is a stimulant that nudges up brain chemicals like dopamine and norepinephrine, with some serotonin activity too. Ashwagandha has shown, mostly in animal studies, that it may gently tweak serotonin signaling. There are no human case reports of problems when the two are combined.

So in practice, the odds of trouble are low. Still, since both can touch serotonin pathways, it's worth watching for things like jitteriness, a racing heart, sweating, trouble sleeping, or agitation. If you notice those, or just want peace of mind before starting ashwagandha, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
