Abemaciclib brand name: Verzenio.
Bacopa has a moderate interaction with Abemaciclib. Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Abemaciclib
Abemaciclib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bacopa interacts with.
Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP3A4 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence suggests that bacopa extract can moderately and competitively inhibit CYP3A4, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the idea with bacopa and your Verzenio (abemaciclib). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear abemaciclib out. In lab dishes, bacopa has shown it might slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happened in real life, abemaciclib could build up higher than expected, which in theory could mean more of its usual side effects, like diarrhea, nausea, fatigue, or low blood counts.
I want to be honest about how soft this signal is. It comes only from test-tube studies, and even those disagree with each other. We don't have human data showing a real problem. Still, since abemaciclib is a serious cancer drug, please run any bacopa supplement by your oncologist or pharmacist before starting it.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Abemaciclib page
“A daily pill for a common form of advanced breast cancer, abemaciclib (Verzenio) only helps when its blood level stays steady, so this list of 138 supplements deserves genuine care. Nearly all of them act on CYP3A4, the liver enzyme that clears abemaciclib, meaning a supplement can push its level up and intensify side effects, or drag…”

About Bacopa
What is Bacopa?
- Memory and cognitive support
- Anxiety and stress
- ADHD symptoms
- Age-related memory decline
- General brain health
Bacopa is an Ayurvedic herb most often used for memory and thinking. Some small studies suggest it may modestly help memory when taken regularly for several weeks, but the evidence is limited and quality varies. It is generally well tolerated but can cause stomach upset, and it should be avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding due to a lack of safety data.
About Abemaciclib
What Is Abemaciclib Used For?
Brand name: Verzenio
Verzenio (abemaciclib) is used to treat adults with hormone receptor (HR)-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer. For early breast cancer at high risk of returning, Verzenio is taken alongside endocrine therapy (tamoxifen or an aromatase inhibitor) after surgery to help prevent recurrence.
For advanced or metastatic breast cancer, Verzenio can be used in three ways: combined with an aromatase inhibitor as a first hormonal treatment; combined with fulvestrant after the cancer has progressed on prior hormone therapy; or on its own after both hormone therapy and prior chemotherapy have stopped working.
