These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Bacopa interacts with whole categories of medication. Aspirin, Chlorpheniramine, Phenylpropanolamine falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Bacopa in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Aspirin, Chlorpheniramine, Phenylpropanolamine
Aspirin, Chlorpheniramine, Phenylpropanolamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bacopa interacts with.
Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP3A4 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence suggests that bacopa extract can moderately and competitively inhibit CYP3A4, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version on combining bacopa with this cold combo (aspirin, chlorpheniramine, and phenylpropanolamine). In lab studies, bacopa might mildly slow down a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, which helps clear certain medicines. In theory, that could let a drug build up a bit and lead to slightly stronger effects. The chlorpheniramine part is the one most affected here, so you might notice a touch more drowsiness, dry mouth, or dizziness.
That said, this is only a theoretical concern from test-tube and animal data, and even those studies disagree on whether it matters in real people. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but it's worth a quick word with your pharmacist or doctor, especially if you take bacopa daily.

ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS
2 of 2Aspirin, Chlorpheniramine, Phenylpropanolamine also falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS.
Bacopa seems to inhibit acetylcholinesterase and might increase acetylcholine levels, which could counteract the effects of anticholinergic drugs. Similarly, anticholinergic drugs might counteract the cholinergic effects of bacopa.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
The piece of this combo product that matters here is the chlorpheniramine, an older antihistamine that works partly by blocking acetylcholine, one of your brain and body's chemical messengers. Bacopa is thought to nudge acetylcholine levels in the opposite direction. So in theory, the two could slightly cancel each other out: bacopa might blunt some of chlorpheniamine's drying, drowsy antihistamine effect, and chlorpheniramine could work against whatever memory benefit you're hoping to get from bacopa.
I want to be honest that this is a theoretical concern based on how these things work, not from real-world reports, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The aspirin and phenylpropanolamine parts aren't part of this interaction. If you take both regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist so they can keep an eye on things.

About Bacopa
What is Bacopa?
- Memory and cognitive support
- Anxiety and stress
- ADHD symptoms
- Age-related memory decline
- General brain health
Bacopa is an Ayurvedic herb most often used for memory and thinking. Some small studies suggest it may modestly help memory when taken regularly for several weeks, but the evidence is limited and quality varies. It is generally well tolerated but can cause stomach upset, and it should be avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding due to a lack of safety data.
